Are you ugly? Are
there anyone testing this?

My friends call me
Ugly Shay. I am sixteen years old. I’m tall and skinny. I believe that I am not
ugly I can’t call myself pretty at where I used to live. In my opinion my community
is very interesting I do not agree with their opinions. They make us change
into pretties when we turn sixteen with an operation. They think people are
ugly.
They should not do
the operation to turn people into pretties. It is discrimination, money loss
and the operation affects people’ health. When they do the operation, when they
grind and stretch and break your bones to the right shape, peel off your face
and rub all your skin away you will feel pain. I don’t get it we are not
hulking and we don’t look like beasts. They want everyone to be equal but they shouldn’t
do it with changing their physical appearances. They want dignified and controllable citizens.
Do they have the right to do this? “Why do I have to be symmetrical? I’d rather
have a face with two different sides.”
I grew more
fidgety with each passing hour until I got to the Smoke (a covert place where
people live who didn’t turn pretty). I love this place. Everyone here is
different. We make our own food and try to make this place better. No one
judges others because of their appearances. I’m very skinny and this is my specialty.
It is a beautiful place with beautiful people and beautiful opportunities to
improve ourselves. You can do sports eat well and be fit as pretties. You don’t
need any other things like operation.
Last year “I read
that the real Cleopatra wasn’t even that great looking. She seduced everyone
with how clever she was.” Even if Cleopatra was not great we don’t have to
change ourselves and let people admire and love us with our cleverness and
characteristics. You don’t have to change. You are already pretty and beautiful
as you are.
